Sightseeing Tours

There are an awful lot of people for whom the ideal holiday is one that includes a lot of sightseeing. Not for them sitting around a swimming pool, or on the beach or in the hotel bar. They want to get out and about and take as many tours as they can and see the sights and learn the ancient and modern history of the places and the countries they are visiting.

Sightseeing holidays fall into several categories depending on the age, physical and financial strength of the sightseer. Many young people, free of the restrictions of time and on a limited budget go on backpacking tours to the exotic places of the World, often trekking dozens of miles and kilometers across deserts or through jungles, wading through rivers in search of adventure and experience. However their journeys are not as haphazard as they seem, as they have often spent months before hand working hard to save the cash to finance their trip as well as planning it carefully through the internet. These young people came to these distant and exciting places looking for adventure and they visit the spots and undergo the experiences that some of the older and more traditional sightseeing tourists would rather just read about in a travel brochure.

The traditional sightseeing tourist, while they don’t want to sit about in a hotel, also don’t want to work too hard either. Their journeys and sightseeing tours will generally be as part of a group traveling from location to location in a large, comfortable air conditioned luxury coach while a tour guide explains the history of every land mark along the way. This for them is the only way to travel and they know how to get the best out of the holiday. There are organized sightseeing tours going on all over the World all year round. These tours akin be taking place all over Europe, South or North America, the Far East, with China and increasingly popular in recent years. 2008 is expected to be a big year for incoming tourism, with far and away the highlight being the Olympics to be held in Beijing in the summer. What better experience can it possibly be than to visit and tour this vast and mysterious country with a Government licensed tour guide to explain the customs and the cultures, the history and the geography of what is now one of the most powerful countries on the face of the Planet. The world is getting smaller all the time and you can make it even smaller by planning your tour through an online travel specialist.

For those who wish a little more spontaneity and a less hurried atmosphere, then the possibility exists to book your own personal tour guide. Certainly more expensive than being part of a group, it does present the opportunity of planning your own custom built tour. Many sight seeing tourists prefer to take this option when they are touring in a country with a warm climate. You can hire a guide for a sightseeing tour for a few days, then rest up for a while, rebuild your energy whilst working a little on your sun tan. You can always resume your sightseeing tours when you have recharged your batteries. The great advantage that having your own guide who will usually come with their own transport is the flexibility it
