Scotland Asks for Sustainable Tourism
In order for us in Scotland and further afield to support tourism, we have to see changes. Here is one study that shows how there may be change on the way. Many people have predicted the end of tourist resorts as all inclusive holidays become more and more popular. Here we will show you how one company is planning to take their brand of all inclusive holidays and turn it into a branded product that should at least be a direction of the way forward for many tourist resorts as the all inclusive upgrade option becomes more popular than ever. We interviewed Mr Patterson, Partner and operator of the prestigious award winning Holiday Company, Holidays All Inclusive, (www.holidaysallinclusive.com).
When we asked what is planned for the future of tourism Mr Patterson replied, “Well we are working alongside pubs, clubs, restaurants, shops and supermarkets of many resorts from Mexico and Egypt to the Caribbean, Spain, Turkey and Greece to actively bring about a partnership, a partnership in which Holidays All Inclusive, offering all inclusive holidays means they can work alongside an all inclusive board.” When asked to expand on what they are planning he went on to explain that if every hotel and apartment complex chooses to be all inclusive, the actual holiday resort will have less and less money spent in it, so the heart could be torn from these sometimes tiny resorts.
“At www.holidaysallinclusive.com the plan is to take the all inclusive option one step further than is presently utilised. We envisage resorts in the next ten years to begin becoming part of this new holiday basis, so for instance instead of the old style self-catering holidays may not be extinct, but why would you go on holiday costing £400 per person, when you may be able to grt the same holiday with all your food, drink and entertainment for an extra £100. You would be pretty foolish to pass up that opportunity.”
This is where the Sustainable Tourism plan comes in, it’s sort of a half-way house that expands the all inclusive holiday to a new degree. The pubs, clubs, restaurants etc. of the resorts will sign up and the whole resort will become all inclusive. All activities, food and drink will be prepaid, we have three levels of this, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Obviously a Gold package will get you into any restaurant, or club on the resort, and this way all the places on the resort are saved from possible disaster.
Of course this is all hypothetical at the moment and would require the assistance of many establishments in many resorts, but this is a very positive move that Holidays All Inclusive, holidaysallinclusive.com has put forward. It will be an interesting next few years as tourist destinations become the target of many tour operators forcing their change without any plans on the way forward.
