This is a guide for Scottish travelers, who would like to involve themselves in a backpacking holiday. Holidaying should be an adventure of sorts. The older you get the less the adventure you are looking for. However, the young and the free can enjoy an interesting and inexpensive trip to the furthest and most exotic corners of the globe, whilst they are physically fit, strong, and free of some of the burdens that adult life bestows upon them. Such the likes of small children that need to be fed at regular intervals or a mortgage and/or overdraft that also needs to be fed at regular intervals.

Backpacking is for the young and the free, and it can be a great adventure. Having said that it is not something that can be taken lightly. A long distance trip with limited resources has to be planned very carefully. If something goes wrong then the dream trip can rapidly descend into a nightmare. Fortunately, backpackers have a culture, based on the exchange of information, most of which is invaluable as well as being easily accessible. And where can this information be accessed? No other place than the internet. A place where backpackers go to recall previous trips they have made and to learn and plan trips that they intend to make in the future.
.
The popular destinations for backpackers are North and South America, India, China, Australia, New Zealand and the Far East. Europe is less popular than it once was, but still is a reasonable target for those who are limited in time and experience. There is a simple logic that says if the novice backpacker is going to hit problems on their first trip it is better that it happens in Belgium than in the jungles of Bolivia. Also the costs involved in traveling to Europe can be considerably less, with all the information and sources of flights or even ferries available online through your friendly web based Travel Company Wherever your destination and how long you intend to travel, the key to success, as any experienced backpacker will tell you, is having the proper equipment.

The foundation stone to having the best of equipment is in choosing the back pack itself. An ideal backpack should be strong, and have and have an ideal carrying capacity of between 40 to 70 liters (or kilos) this equates to 90 to 155 pounds for those of you who have yet to go metric. To say that you backpack is your best friend on any kind of trek is an understatement. An experienced backpacker will rush to tell you that the worst mistake that can be made is to take this aspect lightly. Consult with anyone you know who has ever backpacked on the best backpack to buy, and if they have one to test and not to borrow, then do so. Load it up with all the gear you will be taking and test it to see how it feels to walk ten or fifteen minutes with the weight on your back.

Once you have narrowed down your choices, then the time is right to make this major and fundamental purchase. The next stage is to decide exactly how much and which gear you will be taking with you, and that you may need for basic survival in the worst possible scenario for three days. Sounds a bit dramatic? It probably is. The reasoning behind the drama is that there is no point in filling you backpack with Cornflakes or your favorite teddy bear. On the other hand you are not likely to need an emergency underwater welding kit. Try and find a happy medium, and if you are unsure seek advice. As we now know there is plenty available.

Once the trip has been planned, and the equipment purchased, its all signal’s go for an adventure that young people of all ages will usually find unforgettable.

The largest and the third most populous city in Scotland, Glasgow is located on the River Clyde. The University of Glasgow led to the enlightenment of the entire race. The city flourished during 18th century when it started trading with America. The industrial revolution made Glasgow one of the prominent centres for shipbuilding and engineering. During the Victorian era, Glasgow was called as the second city of the British Empire. Glasgow is a leading business centre for Europe in the present century. Leading Scotland businesses have Glasgow as their main centre.

In Glasgow, climate is mild most of the year. Unlike the other British countries, Glasgow benefits from its south western position. The months from March to May are cool and colorful in spring. From May to September, it is summer time in Glasgow and you may experience wet or warm climate. July is the best warm month in Glasgow if you are planning for a summer vacation.

You can witness Victorian architecture in Glasgow. The main university building and museum are worth taking a look when you are in Glasgow. Glasgow is a wealthy city and this is clearly shown by the excellent construction of the buildings in the city. The city centre has a number of theatres for entertainment and several shopping centres to cater to the needs of the local people. The commonwealth games in 2014 are proposed to be hosted by Glasgow. The city is well connected in terms of roadways, railways, and airways. Several ferry trips are also organized to connect the vast coastal area of the city.

Here is one study that shows how there may be change on the way.

Many people have predicted the end of tourist resorts as all inclusive holidays become more and more popular. Here we will show you how one company is planning to take their brand of all inclusive holidays and turn it into a branded product that should at least be a direction of the way forward for many tourist resorts as the all inclusive upgrade option becomes more popular than ever. We interviewed Mr Patterson, Partner and operator of the prestigious award winning Holiday Company, Holidays All Inclusive, (www.holidaysallinclusive.com).

When we asked what is planned for the future of tourism Mr Patterson replied, “Well we are working alongside pubs, clubs, restaurants, shops and supermarkets of many resorts from Mexico and Egypt to the Caribbean, Spain, Turkey and Greece to actively bring about a partnership, a partnership in which Holidays All Inclusive, offering all inclusive holidays means they can work alongside an all inclusive board.” When asked to expand on what they are planning he went on to explain that if every hotel and apartment complex chooses to be all inclusive, the actual holiday resort will have less and less money spent in it, so the heart could be torn from these sometimes tiny resorts.
“At www.holidaysallinclusive.com the plan is to take the all inclusive option one step further than is presently utilised. We envisage resorts in the next ten years to begin becoming part of this new holiday basis, so for instance instead of the old style self-catering holidays may not be extinct, but why would you go on holiday costing £400 per person, when you may be able to grt the same holiday with all your food, drink and entertainment for an extra £100. You would be pretty foolish to pass up that opportunity.”

This is where the Sustainable Tourism plan comes in, it’s sort of a half-way house that expands the all inclusive holiday to a new degree. The pubs, clubs, restaurants etc. of the resorts will sign up and the whole resort will become all inclusive. All activities, food and drink will be prepaid, we have three levels of this, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Obviously a Gold package will get you into any restaurant, or club on the resort, and this way all the places on the resort are saved from possible disaster.

Of course this is all hypothetical at the moment and would require the assistance of many establishments in many resorts, but this is a very positive move that Holidays All Inclusive, holidaysallinclusive.com has put forward. It will be an interesting next few years as tourist destinations become the target of many tour operators forcing their change without any plans on the way forward.

There are an awful lot of people for whom the ideal holiday is one that includes a lot of sightseeing. Not for them sitting around a swimming pool, or on the beach or in the hotel bar. They want to get out and about and take as many tours as they can and see the sights and learn the ancient and modern history of the places and the countries they are visiting.

Sightseeing holidays fall into several categories depending on the age, physical and financial strength of the sightseer. Many young people, free of the restrictions of time and on a limited budget go on backpacking tours to the exotic places of the World, often trekking dozens of miles and kilometers across deserts or through jungles, wading through rivers in search of adventure and experience. However their journeys are not as haphazard as they seem, as they have often spent months before hand working hard to save the cash to finance their trip as well as planning it carefully through the internet. These young people came to these distant and exciting places looking for adventure and they visit the spots and undergo the experiences that some of the older and more traditional sightseeing tourists would rather just read about in a travel brochure.

The traditional sightseeing tourist, while they don’t want to sit about in a hotel, also don’t want to work too hard either. Their journeys and sightseeing tours will generally be as part of a group traveling from location to location in a large, comfortable air conditioned luxury coach while a tour guide explains the history of every land mark along the way. This for them is the only way to travel and they know how to get the best out of the holiday. There are organized sightseeing tours going on all over the World all year round. These tours akin be taking place all over Europe, South or North America, the Far East, with China and increasingly popular in recent years. 2008 is expected to be a big year for incoming tourism, with far and away the highlight being the Olympics to be held in Beijing in the summer. What better experience can it possibly be than to visit and tour this vast and mysterious country with a Government licensed tour guide to explain the customs and the cultures, the history and the geography of what is now one of the most powerful countries on the face of the Planet. The world is getting smaller all the time and you can make it even smaller by planning your tour through an online travel specialist.

For those who wish a little more spontaneity and a less hurried atmosphere, then the possibility exists to book your own personal tour guide. Certainly more expensive than being part of a group, it does present the opportunity of planning your own custom built tour. Many sight seeing tourists prefer to take this option when they are touring in a country with a warm climate. You can hire a guide for a sightseeing tour for a few days, then rest up for a while, rebuild your energy whilst working a little on your sun tan. You can always resume your sightseeing tours when you have recharged your batteries. The great advantage that having your own guide who will usually come with their own transport is the flexibility it
